Tattoos: A snarling brown and black pit-bull on his left shoulder-blade, the words for ‘Chaos & Order’ inked in black is visible wrapping around his right bicep, a black and silver serpent wrapping around a Celtic dagger graces the back of his lower leg, the Atheist symbol is roughly inked on his right wrist, and a small, blonde faery dressed in light green holding a flaming white ribbon makes her home on the inside of his left arm.
Piercings: A few... both earlobes are gauged, his right eyebrow has been pierced twice in the past, and he has two cartilage piercings in his left ear.
Birthmarks/Scars: He has a small birthmark on his left shoulder-blade, but it’s covered by a brown and black inked tattoo of a snarling pit-bull, so it can’t be seen. As for scars... he has quite a few, though most as hard to see as his dark complexion hides them... but if you look closely, well, they’re there... some from injecting drugs, some self-inflicted, and some from fights and vehicle wrecks. One or two lay across his left cheek from it being split open so many times, a few are almost always hidden behind his shirt, some make their home on his arms and legs. He also has a few scars along his right arm and leg (major road-burn) from a motorcycle wreck.
Clothing Style: ‘Whatever’. Donovan... well, he doesn’t really care. As long as it’s comfortable and doesn’t have too many holes, he’ll wear it. He prefers darker colors, like blacks, dark blues, and greys. Usually, though, he’s seen in sleeveless shirts (with a hoodie if it’s winter), regular jeans, and steel-toed boots. When riding, he trades his regular boots in for an old, worn pair of riding boots.
Personality
Normal Temperament: Maddox is... well, Maddox is Maddox. He’s intelligent, though he hides it, and sarcastic... always ready with a witty comeback. He’s not that nice on the outside, but if a person takes the time to burrow in through his layers, they’ll realize that underneath his sharp tongue and odd and oftentimes almost cruel sense of humor lays a loyal friend and fierce protector.
He’s always ready for a fight and his time in YOIs and prison have really toughened him up, though underneath it he’s still the same person... just hidden a little more. Maddox keeps his body in pretty good shape, despite the fact that he’s a smoker and a drug user (err... was a drug user). He doesn’t have to try to be a ‘bad boy’; it’s an outward appearance that he projects with ease... He also has no qualms about hitting members of the opposite sex or anything like that. Due to the fact that he pretty much grew up on the streets, he knows how to look after himself. It isn’t odd at all for him to be found carrying some sort of pocketknife or switchblade on his person for self-defense... afterall, old habits aren’t broken easily.

Plans for the Future: The future, eh... hm... Well, for the time-being he’s gonna try to stay clean and try to keep a low profile... as he has no wish to go back to prison. Hm, in the future... finish school (as he missed most of the last two years and is still a sophomore). After that, it just depends...
Criminal Record: Yeppers... a lot, including but not limited to vandalism, assault, doing/dealing drugs, trespassing, and petty thievery... has also had his license suspended until otherwise stated for reckless driving, driving under the influence (added with underage drinking) and endangerment of others (not that Donovan cares)... spent three months at a YOI and three months doing community service at age fifteen, at age sixteen, he was tried as an adult and spent a year and twelve days in an adult prison before doing three months of community service, shortly before he turned eighteen, he spent three months in an adult prison and two months community service. In addition to this, he’s also spent roughly half of the time he was in prison and YOIs in drug rehab programs.
... I suppose I should explain just how he got into riding and a little about his past so that this profile makes more sense... so here’s a short bio (hope you guys don’t mind)...
Bio:
[***] Donovan was born on August 5th... he never knew his father and already had an older sister, and over the next few years he was given a younger brother and sister through different fathers.
[***] Started school at age five... walked to and from school. While walking home one day, he took a different route and passed an equine boarding stable. Curiosity getting the better of him, he checked it out. He continued to visit daily until, after a lesson, the trainer saw him and offered to let him ride her Hanoverian gelding.
[***] Thus started his riding... after that day he stopped by the barn once a week for a free riding lesson with the trainer. When he hit eleven, he up and quit visiting the stable.
[***] He started smoking at eleven, stealing cigarettes from his mother. At twelve, he was into drugs, stealing them as well. He injected cocaine and smoked crack cocaine, injected heroin, and took the liquid form of LSD. He’s also been addicted to ‘downers’.
[***] Donovan didn’t start dealing drugs until he was thirteen. He started small, taking what he could without his mother noticing... but slowly built up. He started drinking at age fourteen.
[***] About two months after he turned fifteen he was sent to three months at a YOI (Young Offender Institute... followed by three months community service) where he was put into a drug rehab program. It was at the YOI that he met with police officer/counselor Carlin Thomas. One of the other programs at the Institute was horseback riding, in which Officer Thomas was one of the ‘instructors’. With encouragement, Maddox entered the program and began riding again.
[***] After getting out of the YOI and all that, though, he was immediately back to doing/dealing drugs. The second time he was caught... he was sixteen and was tried as an adult for assault, reckless driving, and thievery as well as drugs. Maddox was sent to an adult prison for a year and twelve days with an additional three months of community service and he was once again put into a drug rehab program. Once again, Officer Thomas was there. After Maddox was released from prison, Thomas decided to try to keep the teen in line. He offered Maddox a home, but when he was declined, he changed tactics and asked the teen to come by a few times a week to exercise one of his three horses. Maddox agreed.
[***] The horses seemed to keep him in line, but after a while he was making excuses again. This time he was sentenced to a simple three months in prison and two months community service. When he got out this time, Thomas was still there. However, this time Maddox seemed pretty sincere about wanting to ‘go clean’. Officer Thomas had the idea that maybe Maddox needed a new view. He arranged for Maddox to leave Michigan and gave the young man an OTTB stallion.
[***] Before Maddox left he decided to visit the barn where he’d had free lessons. Upon visiting, he found out that his ‘instructor’ had quit and moved out of state, but for some reason she’d left him one of her horses and had been sending money to board the mare each month for the past six years. She’d also sent money for the mares training and had paid for the mare to be shown until Maddox showed up. After reading the note that the trainer had left for him, Maddox had no choice but to accept the mare.
